"The Sims Castaway Stories" Review
With the popularity of Lost and Survivor, its only natural to put Sims on a deserted island and see what happens! Sims have it much easier than the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. "The Sims Castaway Stories" sinks a cruise ship full of single Sims looking for their soul mate. The survivors find themselves on an island, where they learn they are not alone. You control one Sim (your choice of male or female) to play through the guided story created by Maxis. The play is much of the same found in "The Sims 2," with the addition of story guided objectives and a few features available in expansion packs. The Stories series features stories to play through instead of creating our own. Each story has reveals more of the storyline as goals are completed. One objective might be that you must become friends with a specific Sim. Once that task is complete another goal is given, often within minutes of completing a task. None of the tasks are difficult or time sensitive though the story will give you the impression time is of the essence. Don't play for the challenge, play for the experience and the quirky Maxis humor.
Gamers who should buy "The Sims Castaway Stories" are those who either love the idea of the deserted island theme or need a way to get their Sims fix while away from their desktop. Not a bad game, but does not have the long term value that "The Sims 2" and all the expansions give us.
